This morning, I travelled down to Margate for a meeting of the its renewal partnership. It’s a critical time for Margate, as the many regeneration projects begin to come to fruition. The Turner Contemporary, Dreamland, the seafront – the transformational change is beginning.
Around the table were representatives from Kent County Council, Thanet District Council, SEEDA, the Arts Council, Government Office of the South East, the Homes and Communities Agency, the Heritage Lottery Fund and others.
But the real benefit from meetings such as this is finding linkages between the agendas of various partner organisations. Today was no exception, as we agreed various actions which would lead to more efficient outcomes for the people of Margate.
And in these days of tighter public sector finances, that’s even more critical.
