So – Brazil versus Ivory Coast. Not the most exciting game in the world, but four goals, one of which seemed effortlessly to bypass the Brazil keeper.
But increasing the game was spoilt by deliberate fouls and over-the-top tackles. And whilst the red card for Kaka was a complete nonsense (the real complaint should have been what seemed to be a deliberate face-butt to Kaka’s right shoulder) he had already been the clear aggressor in numerous other incidents, so a red card was justified – just not for that incident.
Cote d’Ivoire go down three to one – but at least they got to face the elegant might of the Brasilians – which I suspect is more than they’ll be able to say about England in this tournament.
