Using Tony Blair at Sedgefield last week was, for Gordon Brown a massive gamble. Even on home turf the warmth of the reception inside the Labour Club was matched by the venom of the anti Iraq protesters outside.
And surely the seemingly permatanned Mr Blair will turn off as many potential Labour voters as he turns on?
Time will tell. David Cameron commented that “it’s nice to see Tony Blair making a speech that nobody has to pay for”. But perhaps it will be Gordon Brown who ultimately pays?
