The Kent Film Bill – fingers crossed!

I was delighted that at today’s meeting of the Kent County Council, elected members overwhelmingly restated their support for our proposal for a Private Bill – the Kent County Council (Filming on Highways) Bill, which – if passed into the statute book – will make Kent a more attractive location for film and television production.

The Kent Film Office has enabled nearly £14,000,000 in investment into our county since it opened in 2006; nearly all of that money spent with small hotels, pubs, catering companies and the like.

At the time of writing, our Bill has passed its first two readings in the House of Lords unopposed. Having now been confirmed by Members of KCC today, it can now pass to the Unopposed Bill Committee next Tuesday.

Fingers crossed!
