In a week where it seemed there wasn’t a moment to draw breath since first thing Monday morning, I was gratified to hear from a local resident in Sherwood this evening. He simply called to say that the works at the bottom of Sandhurst Road were virtually completed, for which Borough Councillor Frank Williams and I fought so hard for so long. He told me that the crossing facilities were installed, and were just awaiting their power supply to be switched on by EDF.
He said that not only was he really pleased, but that several local peoples with whom he had chatted whilst waiting for the local bus, had told him how impressed they were with the quality of the works by Kent Highways Services. But most of all, local residents are really pleased that finally this stretch of road, so often a forgotten area of Sherwood ward, is a safer place.
It’s proof positive that if we all work together, we really can make things better.
