As a Kent County Councillor, along with the other eighty three members I have an annual discretionary Member Grant allocation which allows me to give grants to local events projects which benefit the community.
In the past I’ve supported extra curricular music therapy classes at local schools; an outreach CAB project at a local library; bouncy castles for a local Church fun day; even a travelling circus which taught primary school children circus skills to improve their confidence!
But last Saturday, my member grant enabled a Harvest Supper at Pembury Village Hall. The event was really well attended, with families from across the area enjoying a great night out. There was a folk group for the adults, and a clown for the kids too.
For a hundred and forty local people, this was an opportunity to enjoy an evening together, making new friends and once again showing just what a close community Pembury really is. It was a great way to bring people together, thanks to the Kent County Council member grant.
