At lunchtime on Sunday, I took a call from a resident of St James’ to say that BT were undertaking some kind of cable laying works in Medway Road. He told me that the noise was unbearable, and residents were very annoyed.
I contacted the KCC Contact Centre and spoke to Kent Highways officers, who subsequently spoke to the Tunbridge Wells Environmental Health service. They then called me back, and I in turn called the resident to update him.
He thanked me, and apologised for calling me on a Sunday. He then added that he hadn’t even bothered trying to call either of his local Borough Councillors, as even if he could have contacted them, he felt they wouldn’t have done anything anyway.
The real irony is that the local resident used to be a prominent Liberal Democrat supporter…
