I met on Friday with the head teacher of one of the primary schools in my constituency, along with the Chairman of the Board of Governors. They were really concerned because they have several pupils who have been unsuccessful in their bid for a grammar school of their choice.
As you’ll have read in the local press, this year many children have been offered grammar schools out of their locality – the press focused on Alex Chatfield who lived in Sevenoaks and was offered a school in Folkestone – but there are many other children whose offered place is some distance away.
I’ve had lots of enquiries from parents about transport to school, and thought it might be useful to put the link on this blog to Kent County Council’s “Getting To School” web page. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about eligibility and how to apply for assistance.
