It may be just a simple road closure sign, but it means everything to us in Sherwood. After months of nagging and lobbying by local resident Lynne Martindale, Borough Councillor Frank Williams and myself, the pedestrian crossing at the Robin Hood end of Sandhurst Road will become a reality in the second week of June.
On Sunday 7th, the whole road will be closed off (hence this sign) to lay a gripfibre surface which will form the basis of the crossing. By the end of Sunday the crossing should be operational, and the road reopened.
Over the next few days, the ducting for electricity will be laid, then the power cables for the beacons. The whole job should be finished by Friday 5th June, when our new hard-won crossing will make life that little bit easier for hundreds of local mums, children and local residents.
