A Children’s Centre at Pembury – truly something to be proud of

I fought so hard a few years ago to bring back into use the decaying old “ETC” building on the Sherwood Park Primary School site.  Eventually, we were able to knock it down altogether and commission a brand new Children’s Centre at a cost of £713,000.  I visit regularly to keep up to date with local news from the young mums around the estate.

From what they tell me, Little Forest (as it’s now called) has made a fundamental difference to life in Sherwood for so many parents with young children.  So I’m delighted that KCC, working alongside head teacher Cath Thewlis (pictured with me above) is a few steps closer to building a similar Children’s centre on the site of Pembury Primary School.  There are a few more hurdles to overcome of course, but if we can build a centre for Pembury which achieves a fraction of what Little Forest has done for Sherwood, we’ll truly have something to be proud of.
