Over four hundred exhibitors. Over four thousand attendees. More than one and a quarter kilometres of exhibition stands. This year’s Kent 2020 Vision was the county’s largest business exhibition and conference, sponsored by Kent County Council since its inception four years ago.
The day started for me with a Visit Kent business breakfast at 7am at the Kent County Showground, speaking alongside Simon Calder, Travel Editor at The Independent. A tour of stands and exhibitors, then a speech at a tourism breakout session hosted by Radio Kent’s John Warnett.
In the evening, I attended a dinner for around two hundred business men and women from all over the county. Hosted by broadcaster Barbara Sturgeon, there was a fascinating awards ceremony celebrating innovation, then the after dinner speaker, Kriss Akabusi.
Kriss delivered over an hour of witty, clever insights. He left the whole room feeling excited, upbeat and ready for the challenges ahead. The toughest thing I’ve been asked to do in years, was to take to the stage after Kriss to thank him and the organisers, and to sum up the day.
This year was my first Vision 2020 exhibition, and it was a really enjoyable experience which left me looking forward to Vision 2020 2010!
