Schools Secretary Ed Balls has done it again. His review of the primary school curriculum, written by former Ofsted boss Sir Jim Rose which is due to be published next month, has been previewed by The Guardian.
Gone, allegedly, is the need to study World War II or the Victorian era. In, it appears, are Wikipedia, podcasts and blogging.
But as both the media and the public try hard to stop laughing, Schools Minister Jim Knight has been quick to claim that “Sir Jim Rose’s report has not been completed let alone published yet…” but laughs at the apparent speculation around its contents.
But the public are getting wise to this approach by the Labour government. Commission a report, leak the report, assess public reaction, then disclaim either the report, or the author, or both, and change the report before officially publishing.
Having listened to Jim Knight on education, I can see some sense in his ideas.
Everything else is clearly just Balls…
