St James’ Roads and Pavements – an accident waiting to happen

Last night at St James’ CE Primary School on Sandrock Road (and thanks to head teacher Paul Chandler) I held a public meeting to discuss traffic issues in St James’ ward. With me were PC Liz Wadey of the local Community Policing team, and Gareth and Kirstie from Jacobs, KCC’s main highways contractor.

Gareth, Kirstie and I had spent last Friday afternoon together “walking the course” and looking at the state which roads and pavements have been allowed to get into.

Residents last night highlighted speeding, inconsiderate parking and careless drivers mounting pavements as among their key issues, and we all agreed to take these concerns away and work up alternative solutions for a future meeting.

Someone has to do something here – these roads are an accident waiting to happen.
