The Dartford Crossing – if Government kept its promise

Going up to Leeds today to a Conservative local government conference. We set off early from County Hall, and reached Dartford Crossing at 6am.

Even at 6am the traffic was unbelievable, and as we got closer to the tunnel, we realised it was closed, creating chaos for thousands of motorists for hours.

There must be a better way than this to cross the river. And if this Government had kept its promise to share out the revenue once the crossing was paid for, maybe Kent and Essex could start planning for a third crossing and ease this congestion.
