Talking to St James’ residents yesterday, I was struck by how many of their concerns were really quite straightforward. Of course, some were more complex, like stopping speeding traffic down many of the main roads in the area, or persuading the Royal Mail to allow the local store to put a postbox outside.
But many are quite simple, like repairing this pothole, where so much tarmac has come out that you can see the original red bricks underneath.
I’ll make the call to the relevant people and get it repaired, of course, but it just amazes me that those who have been responsible for getting things done over recent years could hold their heads up when they have so obviously totally ignored the residents and their surroundings.
It’s easy to get really angry that a whole community has been ignored for so long.
