Went to the meeting of the steering group for the new St Barnabas Community Centre yesterday. The project is coming on really well, and among other decisions, we agreed on the replacement of existing windows.
There was some excellent news about funding, with donations made from a range of sources in recent weeks. Given the current economic climate, particularly in construction and related sectors, we also agreed that we should ‘reality check’ the overall project cost, as we felt it could be ‘value engineered’ downwards. This would allow us to reach the fundraising target and get the build moving sooner.
In the coming weeks and months, I can’t wait to see the new community centre rising from the site to deliver excellent services for the people of St James.
