Every vote matters

A late correction from Neil Baker – my posting about Jean Law, KCC’s newest County Councillor gave incorrect figures (“KCC Welcomes its new Councillor”, October 11).  Neil tells me Jean’s final vote was 2474, not 2470 as I had previously been informed.  So Jean’s closing majority was exactly 950.

As Neil says “Not that the four votes made a difference…”.  Maybe not in this case, but having been at a third recount where a colleague won his county seat by twelve, sometimes every vote matters.

Neil stresses the “tireless campaign” which says it all.  In these days of e-voting and political blogs, it’s actually sheer hard work on the doorsteps that makes the difference.  Well done to Jean and her team.
